Lunchtimes

At lunchtime, children are free to run around in our fantastic open spaces. We’re very lucky to be surrounded by beautiful nature, a wide range of trees and plants and a large grass-covered area, big enough for a football pitch and more! On top of that, we have many items of play equipment which the children love to use, as well as a netball court and, of course, the Daily Mile track.

Children can use equipment from our playpod, a huge selection of recycled (but safe) items that children can use to inspire their imaginative play or build together. There’s a stage area for children to perform or benches and tables for children to relax and chat. The children are encouraged to be adventurous and make their own decisions in their play. Although they are supervised, they are trusted to manage their own risks and taught to decide on what will be a fun but sensible approach to their play. Those supervising the children know them well, as our entire Lunch Break Supervisor team is made of Teaching Assistants who support the children during their learning time.

We are always looking for ways to add to our play offering at Pucklechurch – we believe play is a fundamentally important part of our children’s day at school… an opportunity to relax, experiment, learn, exercise and enjoy!
